Missoula, MT – The Missoula Police Department in Montana responded early in the morning to reports of shots fired in the 500 block of East Broadway.
According to police, officers arrived shortly before 1:00 a.m. after multiple witnesses reported hearing gunfire in the area. Based on information provided at the scene, officers detained a 25-year-old male and a 15-year-old male as potential suspects.
Authorities said the 25-year-old male was not fully compliant with officer commands and repeatedly stated he was going to reach into his pockets for a cell phone despite being instructed not to do so. Due to reported involvement of a firearm and witness information, an officer deployed a Taser to prevent the individual from reaching into his pockets.
Both individuals were evaluated by medical personnel before being transported to the Missoula Police Department for interviews with detectives.
Officers later located multiple spent shell casings in the area, and a vehicle was found to have been struck by gunfire. No additional damage or impact sites were identified.
Police said both individuals have since been released without charges pending further investigation.
Authorities are asking anyone with additional information to contact the Missoula Police Department or submit anonymous tips through Crime Stoppers.
