Search Continues for Missing Montana Woman as Suspect Faces Homicide Charges

Missoula, MT – A man has been charged with deliberate homicide and tampering with evidence in connection with the disappearance of 46-year-old Alicia Wood, whose body has yet to be recovered. Wood was reported missing on November 30, with the last confirmed sighting of her on November 22.

William Glenn Olson, 45, was arrested and charged after investigators linked him to Wood’s death. According to court documents, Olson allegedly caused Wood’s death between November 22 and November 26, 2024, and later disposed of her body in a manner meant to evade authorities.

The search for Alicia Wood’s body has been ongoing since early December, following a massive effort to recover remains from a landfill in Great Falls, Montana. Wood’s body was reportedly placed in a hard-sided suitcase, driven to Great Falls, and dumped in a city-owned dumpster, which was later emptied into the High Plains Landfill. A sanitation supervisor confirmed that the trash from that dumpster was off-loaded at the facility on November 27.

On December 2, Olson was initially questioned by law enforcement about Wood’s disappearance. He told investigators that he had last seen her on November 10 and claimed he had no knowledge of her whereabouts. However, Olson’s story quickly unraveled, and on December 3, he was taken into custody on outstanding arrest warrants unrelated to the disappearance, including a felony violation of conditions of release related to a prior partner/family member assault charge.

In subsequent questioning, Olson admitted to strangling Wood during an altercation at her residence in Conrad. He explained that he placed her body in a suitcase and drove to Great Falls, where he disposed of it in a dumpster. Olson reportedly directed investigators to the location of the dumpster along the 900 block of Sixth Alley NW.

The discovery of Olson’s confession prompted an extensive search at the landfill, which has now entered its second week. Teams of volunteers, law enforcement personnel, and specialized search crews have sifted through hundreds of tons of waste, hoping to recover Alicia Wood’s remains. Despite their efforts, as of December 12, 2024, Wood’s body has not been found.

The investigation into Olson’s actions continues as authorities work to gather additional evidence in the case. He faces serious charges that could result in a lengthy prison sentence if convicted. The deliberate homicide charge carries the possibility of life in prison, while the tampering with evidence charge adds further weight to the allegations against him.

Family members and friends of Alicia Wood have expressed their grief over her loss, and many are holding out hope that the search efforts will bring closure to the case. The community of Conrad, a small town of just over 2,000 residents, has been shaken by the tragic events.

Alicia Wood’s family has asked for privacy during this difficult time, but they have expressed their gratitude for the ongoing support from volunteers and law enforcement personnel who are working tirelessly to recover her remains.

As of now, the investigation is ongoing, and authorities are urging anyone with information about the case to come forward. Updates on the search and further developments in the case will be provided as more information becomes available.
