Fire Breaks Out in Missoula’s Target Range Area, No Injuries Reported

Missoula, MT – A structure fire broke out in the Target Range area of Missoula on Monday evening, December 2, prompting a swift response from local fire crews. The Missoula Rural Fire District (MRFD) was dispatched to the scene at 6:28 p.m. after reports of a fire on North Avenue West.

Firefighters arrived within six minutes, and the Battalion Chief quickly confirmed a working fire. Smoke was visible coming from both the attached garage and the front door of the home. Despite the intense conditions, MRFD crews managed to contain the blaze to the garage and shop area.

However, the home did sustain moderate to heavy smoke damage. Firefighters remained on site for several hours after the initial response, working to extinguish hot spots and prevent the fire from spreading to other parts of the house.

In addition to MRFD, other agencies that responded to the scene included Missoula Emergency Services Inc., the Missoula County Sheriff’s Department, and Northwestern Energy. Thankfully, no injuries were reported during the incident.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
