Montana Fish, Wildlife, and Parks Department looking for public feedback on snowmobile grant proposals

Helena, Montana – The Montana Fish, Wildlife, and Parks Department is looking for public feedback on the proposed snowmobile grant proposals for the year 2022. The public will have the opportunity to express their opinions until Monday, September 5 at 5 p.m.

The Snowmobile Program in Montana has received 25 grant applications and plans to give a total of $460,000. Revenue from snowmobile registrations, the gas tax, and snowmobile trail passes are the primary sources of income for the program. Grooming, route maintenance, signs, ethics education, and avalanche safety are all supported by Montana’s Snowmobile Program. The FWP decides who should receive grant awards based on recommendations made by the citizen-based Snowmobile Advisory Committee (SAC).

The funding requests are open for public discussion. Visit https://fwp.mt.gov/aboutfwp/grant-programs/snowmobile to get a summary list of the 2022 Snowmobile grant application funding requests and to make comments online.

Comments may be sent to the FWP Snowmobile Program manager, Seth McArthur, at fwpsnowmobile@mt.gov.

You may get complete grant information by submitting a request to the Parks and Outdoor Recreation Division office at FWP Headquarters, which is located at 1420 E. 6th Ave., Helena, Montana 59620.
