The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recently issued a statement recently that face mask won’t be mandatory in the U.S., but now they have changed their opinion recommending Covid-19 vaccinated people to wear masks indoors at parts of U.S. where the coronavirus is on the rise.
The updated guidance by CDC also recommends visitors, staff and students in K-12 school to wear face masks regardless they’re vaccinated or not. According to them, proper prevention strategies need to be in place when kids return to in-person learning.
Officials say, CDC decided to change its mask recommendations due to the rise of Covid-19 cases infected with the delta variant. Data shows that people are getting infected with the delta variant even after being immunized.
The new guidance comes more than two months after CDC announced that face masks won’t be mandatory outdoors and indoors for vaccinated citizens. Delta variant was not widespread at that time.
