Missoula, MT — The Missoula Police Department (MPD) reported that the search for missing 33-year-old Danit Ehrlich, who was last seen near the University of Montana, has led authorities to believe she may have drowned in the Clark Fork River.
Ehrlich was reported missing on Friday, prompting a focused search operation around the Jacobs Island dog park area. The search efforts, which have involved both local authorities and community volunteers, have been ongoing as conditions allow. The Missoula Police Department confirmed that they are continuing to search for Ehrlich’s body while remaining dedicated to providing closure for her grieving family.
In a public statement, MPD spokeswoman Whitney Bennett shared the department’s condolences: “It is with deep sadness that we share the tragic news regarding the search for Danit Ehrlich. Our hearts go out to her family, friends, and loved ones during this incredibly difficult time.”

MPD expressed gratitude for the community’s support, highlighting the involvement of multiple agencies and responders, including the Missoula County Sheriff’s Office, Search and Rescue Unit, and the K9 Task Force. “We want to express our sincere gratitude to our community members who showed their support and assisted in the search.
