Fatal Collision in Glacier County Claims Two Lives

Great Falls, MT — Two women from Browning, Montana, tragically lost their lives in a collision on Tuesday, February 4, 2025. The victims were identified by the Glacier County Sheriff’s Office as 25-year-old Jahly Braverock and 41-year-old Rachel Augare.

According to the Montana Highway Patrol (MHP), the crash occurred at approximately 3:30 p.m. along U.S. Highway 2 near the Blackfoot Cut Across. Investigators report that Braverock, driving a Chevy Silverado, attempted to pass a snowplow and another vehicle while traveling westbound. In the process, the Silverado crossed the centerline and collided head-on with a Ford Explorer driven by Augare.

Both drivers were pronounced dead at the scene, and there were no additional passengers in either vehicle. The MHP noted that Braverock was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash, while Augare had her seatbelt on.

The conditions in the area were described as hazardous, with snow and ice covering the roads. The MHP also indicated that alcohol may have played a role in the accident. As a result of the crash, traffic along the highway was blocked for several hours, affecting travel between Browning and Cut Bank.

The Blackfeet Tribal Business Council (BTBC) extended their condolences in a Facebook post Tuesday evening, offering support to the families affected by the tragic event. “The BTBC would like to send our condolences to all families affected by tonight’s tragedy,” the post read.

Authorities continue to investigate the incident, and local officials are urging drivers to exercise caution, especially during winter months when road conditions can be unpredictable.
