According to the court documents, the 41-year-old defendant, later identified as Heather, was sentenced to nearly 400 years behind bars after she pleaded guilty to three counts of first-degree murder and 19 counts of criminal attempt to commit murders. Prosecutors claim the nurse reportedly kiIIed 3 patients and tried to kill many others after she reportedly gave patients in her care excessive insuIin as she sought to determine who would get to live or not.
According to the court documents, the 41-year-old woman reportedly gave excessive insuIin on unsuspecting patients she’ d been entrusted to take care of. Prosecutors claim the nurse began administering the lethal doses of insulin in 2020. She reportedly administered the doses to at least 22 patients.
According to the court documents, 17 patients reportedly died shortly after receiving the insulin doses. According to the court documents, the 41-year-old woman reportedly administered the doses to patients that required insulin to treat diabetes, while some of them did not have diabetes.
Per reports, the main goal for Heather’s defence was to avoid the death penalty. Before the 41-year-old defendant became a nurse, she reportedly worked in a veterinary clinic and her job was to euthanize animals. During the trial, the 41-year-old nurse reportedly said that she believed she was ending the suffering of a lot of people by doing what she did, but now she knows that that’s not the case and she apologized for her actions.
