According to the court documents, the 31-year-old defendant, later identified as Gregory, was sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole after he killed his infant’s mom two years ago. The man also received an additional 100 years after he was found guilty of multiple charges, including: murder, maIice murder, aggravated assault, family violence battery and first-degree cruelty to children, court records say.
Prosecutors said the 31-year-old man (SEE PHOTO) killed the mom of his baby, CrystaI, by stabbing the woman to death. In April 2022, the defendant went to the woman’s home and got into an argument with the mother-of-four. The 31-year-old man then stabbed the woman to death. Prosecutors said that the defendant reportedly stabbed the woman in front of her front door while her four children and two other children were inside the home.
According to the court documents, five children (age from 3 to 11 years old) reportedly witnessed the stabbing and saw their mother’s body in front of the home. The oldest child called the authorities and reportedly told the dispatcher that Gregory reportedly escaped with his infant daughter. The 31-year-old defendant was arrested shortly after. According to the court documents, investigators reportedly found bIood on his shoes which was a DNA match for the victim.
During an interview with investigators, the 31-year-old man reportedly said that CrystaI stabbed herself 15 times. But, an autopsy revealed that the stab injuries were not consistent with being self inflicted. The five, who reportedly witnessed the fatal stabbing, also testified. During the trial, the 31-year-old defendant sticked with the story that he saw CrystaI repeatedly stab herself. But, it took a jury less than an hour to find him guilty of all charges.
