Fatal Crash in Lewis & Clark County Claims the Life of a 24-Year-Old Man

Missoula, MT – A 24-year-old man from Havre died in a single-vehicle crash on Saturday, December 28, 2024, near Lincoln, Montana. The incident occurred at approximately 6:20 p.m. on MT Highway 200, near mile marker 78, several miles east of the town.

According to the Montana Highway Patrol (MHP), the man was driving eastbound when he lost control of his Toyota while negotiating a curve on icy and slushy road conditions. The vehicle began to skid, and the driver attempted to correct the skid, which resulted in the vehicle striking a jersey barrier. The impact caused the Toyota to drive halfway onto the barrier before overturning and coming to a stop on its roof.

The driver, whose name has not yet been released, was the sole occupant of the vehicle and was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash. Despite efforts by emergency responders, he was pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities confirmed that alcohol or drugs were not contributing factors to the crash.

The MHP is continuing to investigate the cause of the crash, though it is believed that road conditions and speed played a significant role. Further details, including the release of the victim’s name, are expected as the investigation progresses.
