Montana National Guard 1063rd Holds Change of Command Ceremony in Billings

Billings, Montana – A change of command ceremony was held by the 1063rd Support Maintenance Company of the Montana National Guard on Friday night in Billings.

Capt. Jacob Pancheau turned up control of the company to Lt. David Morris, who would take over as commander.

Throughout their year-long deployment to Southwest Asia in support of Operation Spartan Shield, Pancheau oversaw the 1063rd. He works as an assistant professor of military science at MSUB and resides in Billings.

Both men commended the efforts of the 1063rd’s volunteer soldiers.

“The reputation you have earned prior to, during, and following deployment are many, but it pales in comparison to the excellence it represents. You left your families, your friends, and your homes for a long time to do hard things in a lot more far away places than we ever expected, and you exceeded all expectations,” said Pancheau.

Lt. David Morris, the new commander, is a trooper for the Montana Highway Patrol and resides in Bozeman.

“I’ve never been around another group of soldiers that is more willing to work and just make me proud that I’m in the Guard and make me proud that I live in Montana,” said Morris.

The 1063rd Assistance Maintenance Company fixes every type of vehicle the National Guard uses to offer ground maintenance support.
