Yellowstone National Park sees record in single-month visitors

Yellowstone County, Montana – Yellowstone National Park has had its busiest July on record, with over a million visitors in a single month for the first time. According to a news release from Yellowstone, July was the park’s busiest month ever.

In July 2021, the park had 1,080,767 recreation visitors, a 13% increase over the 955,645 visits in July 2020 and a 15% increase over July 2019.

According to the press release, Yellowstone has had 2,668,765 recreation visitors so far in 2021, a 16 percent increase over 2019. Due to the influence of COVID-19 on park visitors in 2020, the comparison is based on 2019.

“Increases to Yellowstone’s visitation have accelerated rapidly over the past 12 months and we continue to be on pace to set record numbers for 2021. We are actively developing defensible short and long-term solutions, with our partners, which focus on protection of park resources, improving visitor experience, and considering impacts on park staffing, infrastructure and our gateway communities and regional economies,” Superintendent Cam Sholly said.
