58-year-old Butte man killed in alleged fight, investigation ongoing

Butte, Montana – According to Butte-Silver Bow Sheriff Ed Lester, Butte Police are investigating an alleged murder from Saturday night.

Butte Police, A-1 Ambulance, and Butte Fire Rescue responded to the complaint of an injured person near the intersection of Park and Emmett Streets just before 6 p.m. Saturday, according to Sheriff Lester.

A 58-year-old man of Butte was transported to St. James Healthcare after being found unconscious at the scene. Shortly after arriving, he was pronounced dead.

The man who died was allegedly involved in a fight with another 58-year-old Butte man who is already arrested, according to Sheriff Lester. The incident is under investigation.

“Our investigators are trying to determine what the exact circumstances were, but there is no ongoing concern for public safety as a result of this incident,” Lester said.

The Sheriff said the victim’s injuries appear to be consistent with blunt force trauma but a official cause and manner of death will not be determined until after an autopsy.

No additional information, as well as the identities of the man involved in the accident were not released.
