Meet an “Amazing” Who Inspires as She Zooms Through the Water

during action between University of Notre Dame vs. University of Virginia at Notre Dame Stadium on September 28, 2019 in South Bend, Indiana.

Charlotte Sanddal, age 94, is not only a medal-winning champion swimmer, she also received the Montana U.S. Masters Swimmers “Most Inspirational Swimmer Award” for being such an inspiration to so many other swimmers.

Charlotte only learned to swim at 72, after retiring as a social worker. She found that she took to swimming–well, like a fish to water! Among her many swimming achievements is the world record she holds for the 50-meter butterfly in her age group, with a time of 2:15.53. She set the record despite breaking her hip while bike-riding and dealing with the ensuing recuperation and rehab.

When out of the water, Charlotte snowshoes, kayaks and volunteers at the Montana Historical Society. An inspirational lady all around!
