Pursuit ends in crash following task force operation near Missoula

Missoula, MT – Members of the Missoula Police Department assisted in a multi-agency pursuit that ended in a crash within city limits on April 8.

According to authorities, the incident began just after 10:00 a.m. when the FBI Montana Regional Violent Crime Task Force was conducting an operation outside Missoula. During the operation, a deputy attempted to stop a vehicle believed to be connected to the investigation. The driver failed to stop, leading to a pursuit that entered the city.

Officers from the Missoula County Sheriff’s Office and troopers with the Montana Highway Patrol joined Missoula police and task force members in the pursuit.

The chase ended when the vehicle crashed near England Boulevard and Lexington Avenue. All occupants inside the vehicle were detained at the scene, and no injuries were reported.

Officials said the operation is tied to an ongoing investigation involving suspected narcotics distribution and firearm-related offenses. The Missoula Police Department’s Crash Investigation Team is handling the crash investigation.

Authorities stated there is no threat to the public, and the case remains an active investigation. No further details are being released at this time.
