According to the court documents, the mom, later identified as 28-year-old Mary, was sentenced to 42 years in prison after she pleaded guilty to neglect resulting in the death of a dependent and domestic battery to a child in connection to the death of her 4-year-old son Morgan. Prosecutors said the little boy was beaten, starved and kept in dark basement before his father beat him to death.
The boy’s dad was sentenced to 70 years in prison after he pleaded guilty to murder and battery to a child. During the trial, the boy’s mom reportedly admitted to abusing her young son. The 28-year-old mother also admitted to failing to intervene or call 911 when her husband subjected her son to severe punishments. In Oct. 2021, Mary called 911 and told the dispatcher that her husband got angry and seriously injured her 4-year-old son.
Officers responded to the victim’s home where they found the boy’s body, which was covered in bruises and bl00d. According to the court documents, the boy’s dad regularly beat the child. He also locked Morgan in dark basement and left the child naked for days because the little boy peed his pants. Per reports, the basement reportedly had no working lights. It only had a potty training toilet and a single blanket.
The boy’s mom told prosecutors that her husband also starved their son and regularly duct tape his mouth. In a video, obtained by investigators, the father can be seen punching the 4-year-old boy 15 times before he picked him by the neck and dropped him on the floor. The following day, the father did the same thing. The medical examiner told prosecutors that the 4-year-old boy died from blunt force trauma to the head which caused bleeding on his brain.
