Missoula, MT – The Kalispell Police Department has confirmed the discovery of the body of Doug Lowitz, a local man who had been missing for nearly a month. Lowitz, 52, was last seen on November 28, 2023, and was located on the morning of December 28, 2023, around 10 a.m. near Granrud Lane, close to the Stillwater River.
Search teams had been working tirelessly to locate Lowitz, with Flathead County Search and Rescue leading efforts, along with support from Flathead County Sheriff’s Office deputies. The search operation utilized drones and K9 units to cover the difficult terrain. While Lowitz’s dog, Daisy, was found alive in the same area, there were no signs of other individuals or disturbances nearby.
Authorities have stated that the cause of death remains undetermined and will be investigated further through an autopsy. At this time, the police have emphasized that no foul play is suspected in the incident.
