According to the court documents, the 24-year-old dad, Dylan, was sentenced to 50 years in prison for killing his infant in 2021. During the trial, the father reportedly admitted to beating his 2-month-old baby daughter to death. Prosecutors say the defendant will be eligible for parole after serving at least 25 years of his sentence.
The fatal incident occurred in September 2021. The father called the authorities to report that his 2-month-old baby was not moving or breathing. The responding officers reportedly found the baby unresponsive on the floor. The baby was rushed to the hospital where doctors pronounced her dead. The medical examiner told investigators that the child suffered severe injuries, including bruises on her leg, forearm, ankle and cheek.
During an initial interview with investigators, the 24-year-old father reportedly said that when he woke up, his baby started to look off to the side. Investigators asked the man about the baby’s injuries and he reportedly told them that he bit his baby daughter before shaking her violentIy approximately 20 times. The father then played with the baby’s legs in an attempt to gain a response from the infant after she became unresponsive.
The medical examiner also revealed that the baby suffered severe injuries on her head, neck, torso, and extremities. An autopsy also revealed that the baby suffered bIeeding and sweIIing of the brain. In a follow-up interview, the baby’s dad eventually broke down and admitted to shaking his infant out of anger because she would not eat and would not stop crying.
