MISSOULA , MT— The body of Robert Jeffrey Howe, a 68-year-old Montana man who had been reported missing since May 28, was recovered Saturday afternoon from the Lochsa River in Idaho.
Howe was last seen near the Wilderness Gateway Campground, located off Highway 12. Authorities launched an extensive search operation after he was reported missing on Wednesday.
The Idaho County Sheriff’s Office confirmed that Howe’s body was discovered about two miles from the campground. The recovery was made possible by a drone deployed during the search.
Multiple agencies collaborated in the effort, including Two Bear Air and the U.S. Forest Service.
Officials have not yet released further details regarding the circumstances surrounding Howe’s disappearance or the cause of death.
