Missoula, MT — The body of a woman discovered northeast of Missoula on December 12, 2024, has been identified, the Missoula County Sheriff’s Office reported. The body was found at approximately 5:33 p.m. by individuals who were in the area searching for a Christmas tree along Highway 200, near Gold Creek.
Sheriff’s deputies and detectives responded to the scene, where they located a deceased female, estimated to be in her late 30s to early 40s. At the time, there was no identifying information found with or near the body, making it impossible to immediately determine her identity. The body was transported to the Missoula Medical Examiner’s Office for further investigation.
Despite the lack of identification, the Sheriff’s Office said detectives have been working tirelessly since the discovery and continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the woman’s death. Investigators have not yet disclosed any further details about the cause of death.
In a statement, the Missoula County Sheriff’s Office urged anyone who may have witnessed suspicious activity in the area or who may have information about the woman’s identity to come forward.
