Police officials said the 40-year-old dad, Thomas, and the 35-year-old mom, Brandy, were taken into custody and later charged with second-degree murder and other feIony charges in connection with the death and abuse of their daughter Geana. Per reports, the child’s grandmother, Debora, (SEE PHOTO) was also arrested and charged in connection with the girl’s dead. Police officials said the little girI suffered multiple injuries to her body, including missing haIf of her nose.
The mom and dad, who told police that they weren’t the girl’s bioIogical parents, but gained custody of child when she was 2 years old, called 911 last month and told the dispatcher that their daughter was barely breathing. First responders attempted life-saving measures, but unfortunately, the girl was pronounced dead at the scene. An autopsy revealed that the cause of death is the result of starvation, blunt force injury due to assault, proIonged immobilization and physical restraint, medical neglect and pneumonia, L&C reported.
During an interview with investigators, the 35-year-old mom reportedly told investigators that the child reportedly had several psychological, including: ADHD, schizophrenia and bipolar disorder. She also told investigators that the child received her injuries because she would throw herself to the ground during daily tantrums. She also told investigators that she didn’t took her daughter to the hospitaI because she considered the injuries to be treatable at home. But, despite claims from the family members that the child’s injuries were accidental or self-inflicted, medical professionals determined that her injuries were consistent with repeated abusive trauma, not accidental occurrences.
Per reports, surveillance video reportedly captured how the girl’s dad (SEE PHOTO) walked into a room where his daughter was and kicked her in the head for no reason. Another video showed the little girl tied with duct tape around her arms and chesst. Officials removed another child from the home, who was also adopted and suffered from calorie and psychological deprivation. Their biological children appeared to be in good health, police said.
