Mom, who had a history of mental disorder, told her mother that she was driving around, trying to ‘find the ocean and walk into it so she could be with her babies’ after she smothered her 2-year-old daughters with her bare hands; sentenced

According to the court documents, the mom, later identified as 28-year-old Tenia, was sentenced to 20 years to life in jail after she killed her two daughters. Prosecutors say the woman smothering the 2-year-old girls with her bare hands. During the trial, Tenia’s attorney reportedly said that his client had a history of mental disorder, bipolar, depression and anxiety.

According to the court documents, the 28-year-old mother was sentenced this week after she pleaded guilty to first degree murder of her twln daughters, Jasmine and Jaeda. In June 2019, Tenia’s mom called 911 and told the dispatcher that her daughter was driving around and told her that she would kill her daughters and herself.

During the call, the defendant’s mother also told the dispatcher that her daughter told her that ‘she was looking for the ocean so she could walk into it and be with her babies in heaven.’ Per reports, Tenia’s mother also told the dispatcher that her daughter told her that she ‘was sorry but didn’t want to live anymore’ and that she planned to kill herself and her babies.

Shortly after the 911 call, an officers saw the mother’s vehicle and initiated a traffic stop. The mother stepped outside and the officer saw the two girls dead in their car seats. The medical examiner told investigators that the girls were suffocated. During an interview with investigators, the mother reportedly confessed to smothering her daughters with her bare hands.
