Missoula, Montana – A St. Ignatius woman’s skull was identified as having been discovered in the early 1980s close to Newport, Washington.
A hunter discovered a skull in a secluded wooded location north of Newport in 1982. Using comprehensive and modern DNA techniques, experts were able to identify it as Mildred Allison Hubertz.
Hubertz, who was around 59 years old when she vanished, was identified as the unidentified person after Mildred’s great-granddaughter’s DNA was used as a reference.
She vanished from St. Ignatius in 1968, but the details of her disappearance are still unknown.
