Bond of $75,000 set for robbery attempt victim who was shot by Billings woman

Billings, Montana – In Yellowstone County District Court on Wednesday, a man who authorities claim was shot by a woman during an attempted robbery in a Billings alleyway was charged.

A felony charge of attempted robbery was brought against Christopher Marquise Sanders, 37, who appeared in court by video from the Yellowstone County jail. Sanders entered a not-guilty plea. He was given a $75,000 bond.

According to the authorities, Sanders and a second guy, Jose Luis Ochoa Angeles, 29, were shot on January 28 in an alleyway in the 2000 block of Cook Avenue in Billings. The woman said the two males had seized her while attempting to rob her.

According to the charging documents, the woman told police that she believed the two guys were going to kill her, so she reached for the revolver she had stashed in the front pocket of her jacket and shot the attackers.

Prior to his arrest and Monday’s booking into the county jail, Sanders, who had been hit in the stomach, received medical attention at St. Vincent Healthcare.

Ochoa Angeles, according to the police, has an arrest warrant out for him, but he is still in the hospital.
