Missoula, MT — Missoula police are urging residents to take extra precautions on the city’s icy streets following two separate accidents Monday evening that involved a pedestrian and a police officer.
The first incident occurred just after 7 p.m. at the intersection of South Third Street West and Reserve Street, when a vehicle struck a pedestrian. The victim was quickly transported to a local hospital, though authorities have not released information about their condition.
Shortly after, a Missoula police officer was hit by a vehicle while responding to another accident scene in the city. According to police spokesperson Whitney Bennett, the officer sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was also taken to the hospital. Family members have been notified of the situation.
Both incidents have raised concerns about road safety, as icy conditions have made travel hazardous in the area. Bennett emphasized the dangerous state of the roads and urged drivers to slow down and exercise caution while navigating Missoula’s streets.
As of now, the investigations into both accidents are ongoing, and authorities continue to remind the public to stay alert, especially during the winter months when conditions can change rapidly.
