Ravalli County, MT — A head-on collision on U.S. Highway 93 in Ravalli County Wednesday afternoon left two people dead. According to Montana Highway Patrol Captain Shawn Silvan, the crash occurred just north of Woodside Cutoff around 12:50 p.m.
A pick-up truck traveling northbound drifted into the southbound lanes, colliding with an oncoming SUV. The 32-year-old female driver of the SUV, who was traveling southbound at the time, was pronounced dead at the scene. The 62-year-old male driver of the pick-up truck was extricated from the wreckage and rushed to Bitterroot Health, where he later succumbed to his injuries.
Both drivers were reported to have been wearing seatbelts at the time of the crash. The names of the victims have not yet been released pending notification of next of kin.
The Montana Highway Patrol is continuing its investigation into the cause of the accident. Authorities have not yet confirmed any further details, though they are urging drivers to remain cautious on the roads as they work through their inquiry.
