TWIN BRIDGES, MT — A routine traffic stop in Twin Bridges on Saturday afternoon escalated into a brief pursuit and an arrest after the driver fled the scene and later allegedly rammed a sheriff’s vehicle at their home in Sheridan.
According to the Madison County Sheriff’s Office, the incident began shortly after 4:30 p.m. when a deputy initiated a traffic stop for a moving violation. Upon contact, the driver—who is known to local law enforcement—fled eastbound toward Sheridan.
Concerned for public safety, the deputy discontinued the pursuit. Law enforcement officials subsequently located the vehicle at the driver’s residence in Sheridan.
Upon the deputy’s arrival, the situation escalated when the driver allegedly rammed their vehicle into a parked Madison County Sheriff’s Office patrol car. A brief struggle ensued, resulting in the driver’s arrest.
The driver sustained minor injuries during the altercation and received medical treatment before being transported to a detention center. No deputies were reported injured in the incident.
The Madison County Sheriff’s Office confirmed that the driver now faces both felony and misdemeanor charges. The investigation remains ongoing, with further details on the charges expected to be released at a later date.
