The MPD is warning local residents about a recent scam attempt that has been reported to the local law enforcement

Missoula, MT – Police officials released a statement saying that they’ve received multiple calls regarding a scam where the caller claims to be Sgt. Odlin from the Missoula County Sheriff’s Office.

Police officials also said that the scammer identifies themselves as Sgt. Odlin and informs the victim that they are in contempt of court.

The caller provides various court docket numbers and insists that the victim must come to the courthouse to testify.

To avoid arrest, the scammer demands an immediate payment of $8000 over the phone.

The caller’s number is reported as 406-226-7709.

This is a scam, and the Missoula County Sheriff’s Office nor the Missoula Police Department, does not make such calls.

Do not provide any personal information or make any payments over the phone.
