The City of Missoula invites all residents of the greater Missoula area to consider applying for a spot in this winter’s City of Missoula Local Government Academy

Missoula, MT – According to the city officials, the 6 weeks of classroom sessions and field trips is a great chance to learn about City government in a hands-on setting.

The Academy will be held on Thursday evenings for six weeks from Feb. 8 through March 14, from 6:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. It is open to all residents by application at no charge.

The first and final sessions will meet in City Council Chambers at 140 W. Pine St., with sessions in between at various locations.

The City will aim to select a diverse body of participants from all Missoula neighborhoods.

The Academy is a project of the City’s Office of Neighborhoods and leadership of the Missoula City Council.

The 2024 Academy will be the fourth in the popular series. Previous academies were held in 2019, 2020 and 2023.

The Academy is a unique and exciting opportunity for Missoula residents to get a close look at how City elected officials and staff make decisions, how the City budget comes together, how the Police and Fire departments operate, how streets are maintained and more.
