Teenagers Detained After Gun Report at Sentinel High School

Missoula, MT – Two teenagers were taken into custody Tuesday morning after a report of a student carrying a firearm on the grounds of Sentinel High School. The incident prompted a swift response from both the school’s resource officer and local law enforcement.

Around 9 a.m., a student at the school alerted the school resource officer (SRO) that they had seen another student with a gun. In response to the report, the SRO immediately requested assistance from the Missoula Police Department, and the school was placed on lockdown as a precautionary measure.

Missoula police officers quickly arrived at the scene, where they detained two male students. A firearm was recovered from the individuals, though no details have been provided about the type of weapon involved.

The Missoula Police Department is currently coordinating with Missoula County Public Schools to conduct a thorough investigation into the matter. At this time, authorities have stated that there is no ongoing threat to the public or to other students at the school.

The lockdown was lifted shortly after the students were detained and the situation was secured. School officials and law enforcement have assured the community that they are working together to ensure the safety and well-being of everyone involved.

Further updates will be provided as the investigation continues.
