Missoula, MT – The Montana Department of Transportation (MDT) has announced the start of a major pavement preservation and safety improvement project on U.S. Highway 93, located near Darby. The project will cover approximately 13 miles, stretching from the Rye Creek Bridge to Camas Creek Loop.
Construction is scheduled to begin this spring, with work taking place on weekdays from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. During this time, drivers can expect single-lane closures and reduced speed limits within the work zone. MDT officials say the project is designed to enhance roadway safety, prolong the life of the pavement, and improve the overall driving experience for travelers.
In an effort to keep the public informed and engaged, a public open house will be held on April 2, 2025, from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the Darby Community Club House. The event will provide an opportunity for residents and commuters to learn more about the project, ask questions, and voice any concerns.
The project is slated for completion by the end of 2025, with MDT encouraging motorists to plan ahead for potential delays and use caution when traveling through the construction zone.
