Missoula, MT – The Missoula Police Department announced that Lt. Mike Kamerer will be promoted to Captain in the Uniform Patrol Division, effective March 1, 2026.
Officials said Kamerer has built a career in Uniform Patrol, strengthening the department’s Special Teams readiness and operational capabilities.
He has completed the Montana Executive Leadership Institute, earned the FBI-LEEDA Trilogy Award, and graduated from the 290th Session of the FBI National Academy.
Kamerer holds a Bachelor of Science in Criminology from Portland State University and a Master of Public Safety with a Criminal Justice Education Certificate from the University of Virginia.
The promotion follows the upcoming retirement of Patrol Captain Matt Stonesifer at the end of March. Department officials thanked Stonesifer for his years of dedicated service and leadership in the community.
