Investigation into 2022 Homicide of Michael Lee Alan Evans Continues, Reward Increased to $100,000

Great Falls, MT – The investigation into the February 2022 homicide of 40-year-old Michael Lee Alan Evans remains ongoing as authorities work to bring closure to the case. Evans, a Great Falls native, was found deceased on February 14, 2022, several miles east of Great Falls at 8535 US Highway 89, the former location of the Bar S restaurant.

An autopsy conducted by the Montana State Crime Lab confirmed that Evans’ death was the result of homicide. A beloved member of the Great Falls community, Evans was remembered in his obituary for his musical talent and dedication to the family business, the Bar S Supper Club, which he had worked tirelessly to continue. A 1999 graduate of Great Falls High School, Evans was also known for his role in the Delphian choir during his school years.

Two years after his death, in February 2024, the Cascade County Sheriff’s Office, along with Great Falls/Cascade County Crimestoppers, announced a $10,000 reward for any information that could lead to the arrest and prosecution of those responsible for Evans’ death. Sheriff Jesse Slaughter stated in a Facebook video that detectives had identified “persons of interest” in the case, asserting that these individuals were members of the community and likely knew critical details about the circumstances surrounding Evans’ murder.

As the third anniversary of Evans’ death approaches, Crimestoppers has significantly increased the reward, raising it to $100,000. This substantial increase is designed to incentivize new information and assist law enforcement in bringing justice to Evans’ grieving family.

Sheriff Slaughter emphasized the importance of solving the case, stating that both the family and the community deserve answers. “These individuals know what happened to Mike,” he said, urging anyone with relevant information to come forward.

Authorities are continuing to investigate the case, and the public is encouraged to report any tips, no matter how small. Those with information can contact the Cascade County Sheriff’s Office Detective Division at 406-454-8099, the Sheriff’s Office front desk at 406-454-6820, or the Crimestoppers Tip Line at 406-727-8477.
