Flathead Electric Cooperative Grants Over $25,000 to Support Local Safety Initiatives

Missoula, MT— Flathead Electric Cooperative’s Roundup for Safety program has recently awarded $25,549 to several local community projects aimed at enhancing safety in the region. The grants were distributed to various organizations, including volunteer fire departments, schools, and community centers, to fund critical safety equipment and improvements.

The Libby Volunteer Fire Department received $7,185 for the purchase of new extrication equipment, a vital tool for responding to accidents and ensuring quicker, safer rescues. The Martin City Volunteer Fire Department was also granted $10,000 to upgrade their communication systems, specifically for new radios, which are essential for effective coordination during emergencies.

In addition to fire department support, the Whitefish Performing Arts Center was awarded funds for the purchase of a Genie Lift, enhancing safety for staff and performers during productions. Kootenai Valley Christian School also received a grant to improve playground safety, while Farming for the Future used part of the funding to enhance gate safety on local farms.

These grants are made possible by the cooperative’s members, who voluntarily round up their monthly bills, contributing to the ongoing success of the Roundup for Safety program. Since its inception in 1997, the program has raised over $5 million, demonstrating the collective effort of the community in supporting safety and well-being.

The funding underscores the cooperative’s commitment to fostering safer communities and supporting local organizations that play a crucial role in public safety and education.
