Fire Reported at University of Montana Power Plant

MISSOULA, MT— A fire was reported at the University of Montana’s power plant Monday afternoon, sending fire crews racing to the scene. The fire was first reported around 3 p.m., as smoke was seen billowing from the facility located on the university campus.

Dave Kuntz, the university’s Strategic Communications Director, confirmed the fire, though further details were not immediately available. The City of Missoula Fire Department responded to the scene with several fire trucks, but upon their arrival, the situation appeared relatively calm. Smoke could still be seen, but no major flare-ups or dangerous conditions were reported.

While the cause of the fire remains unclear, fire crews worked to ensure the safety of the area. The university has not yet released additional information on the extent of the damage or any potential injuries.
