Missoula, MT – A head-on collision in the Blackfoot Valley left one person dead and another injured early Monday morning. The crash occurred at approximately 6:45 a.m. near mile marker 19 in Potomac, Montana.
According to Montana Highway Patrol Captain Shawn Silvan, a 20-year-old woman was traveling eastbound on Highway 200 when she lost control of her vehicle. The woman’s car crossed into oncoming traffic, where it collided with another vehicle traveling in the opposite direction.
The woman, who was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash, was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the second vehicle, a man, sustained injuries described as “non-life-threatening” and was transported to the hospital for treatment.
The identity of the deceased woman has not been released at this time, pending notification of next of kin.
Authorities are continuing to investigate the cause of the crash.
