False Grenade Threat at Missoula Walgreens Results in Unfounded Investigation

Missoula, MT – A bomb threat that prompted a significant response from law enforcement authorities at a local Walgreens store on North Reserve Street has been determined to be a hoax.

At approximately 9:00 a.m. on Monday, Missoula Police Department (MPD) officers were dispatched to the store following a phone call claiming that a grenade had been placed inside the establishment. In response, the MPD immediately called in a specialized Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) team and a K9 unit from the University of Montana Police Department to assist in the investigation.

Law enforcement personnel quickly secured the area, evacuating employees and customers as a precaution while the experts conducted a thorough search of the premises. After an extensive investigation, authorities confirmed that the threat was unfounded and not credible. No explosives or suspicious devices were found inside the store.

The MPD later shared the outcome of the investigation on social media, assuring the public that the safety of the community had not been compromised.

While the incident caused a temporary disruption, law enforcement officials have not yet released further details about the person who made the phone call or whether any leads have been developed in the case.

At this time, authorities are continuing to evaluate the situation. They remind the public that hoax threats such as this one can carry serious consequences and encourage anyone with information to come forward.

The Walgreens on North Reserve Street has since resumed normal operations, and no injuries or damages were reported during the response.
