Missoula, Montana – Missoula police arrested an elementary school teacher on Friday morning.
The 25-year-old Hellgate Elementary School teacher, Scott Hamilton, was arrested on charges of Attempted Sexual Abuse of Children and Sexual Abuse of Children- Possession of Material.
According to MPD spokeswoman Lydia Arnold, the Missoula Police Department received information about the alleged acts and promptly launched an investigation.
According to a press statement, a search warrant was executed at Hamilton’s house on Thursday, and charges were filed with the Missoula County Attorney’s Office.
Hamilton was taken into custody without incident after an arrest warrant was issued on Friday.
Detective J. Harris of the Montana Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force is leading the investigation (ICAC.)
The Missoula Police Department is not releasing any additional information at this time.
Hamilton allegedly connected with a minor and got “sexually explicit” content from the minor, according to court records.
