Cass County, North Dakota – If all goes as predicted, construction on the Cass County Prison expansion should begin this spring.
The Cass County Sheriff’s Office disclosed the information and stated that the designs had been under development for a number of years. The construction of a jail that will last for several decades has reportedly taken a long time. According to officials, they have been working along with Cass County Government and a number of other officials. Although a precise date for the start of building has not yet been made public, the majority of the necessary components are already in place for it to start as soon as the snow melts.
“We are really looking forward to this spring to breaking ground and getting this thing on the way to being built… “said Cass County Sheriff Jesse Jahner, “…It’s going to take a couple of years to build the [jail].”
According to Sheriff Jahner, the plan considers the future with the intention of making significant improvements right away and delaying more significant adjustments until they are absolutely essential. To delay the need for new cells and enable officials to expand the number of inmates the jail can house, this involves making the 90 cells large enough to accommodate two detainees with a few minor alterations. When 180 more inmates might potentially be housed, this move alone improves capacity by about 50%.
Sheriff Jahner claims that without the assistance of various regional organizations, such as Cass County Governance, the jail would not have undergone improvements.
