BUTTE, MT — A 31-year-old man is facing serious charges after being arrested in connection with a robbery at the Southwest Montana Community Federal Credit Union. Andrew J. Davis was taken into custody on Monday and is now facing a robbery charge related to the incident.
Davis allegedly entered the credit union and handed a note to staff demanding cash. Authorities report that the suspect fled the scene with an undisclosed amount of money. However, law enforcement was able to apprehend Davis within two hours of the robbery near the town of Rocker.
On Tuesday, Davis appeared via Zoom in Butte-Silver Bow Justice Court for his initial hearing. According to MTN’s Meagan Thompson, Davis was non-compliant during the proceedings, and it was noted that he was not expected to appear in person due to his behavior.
The suspect now faces a potential maximum sentence of up to 40 years in prison and fines reaching as high as $50,000 if convicted. As the investigation continues, Davis remains in custody, awaiting further legal proceedings.
Authorities have not yet disclosed the amount of money Davis allegedly stole during the robbery. The case is still ongoing, and further details will likely emerge as it moves through the court system.
