Bozeman Salvation Army to Build New Facility to Address Childcare Needs

BOZEMAN, Mont. — The Bozeman Salvation Army is moving forward with plans to build a new, two-story facility aimed at addressing the growing need for childcare in Gallatin County.

The proposed facility will be located on a one-acre plot on the east side of Bozeman, near North 19th Avenue and north of Durston Road. In addition to housing current Salvation Army programs and social services offices, the building will feature a gym and provide childcare services for up to 75 children.

Amber Ohl, Bozeman’s Salvation Army captain, explained that the new facility is designed to support working families in the region. “We really want to have this program to get folks back into the workplace so they can provide for their families,” Ohl said. “By offering a safe space for their children, parents won’t have to worry about where their kids are, allowing them to focus on their jobs.”

Officials noted that childcare is an increasingly critical need in Gallatin County, where working families often struggle to find affordable, reliable options. The Salvation Army’s new building is expected to fill a crucial gap in services, allowing more parents to re-enter the workforce without the added stress of childcare concerns.

While the project is still in its planning stages, construction is expected to begin in March, pending final approvals. The Salvation Army is hopeful that the facility will soon provide much-needed support for the community.

The new building will not only enhance the Salvation Army’s ability to serve local families but will also help create a more stable and supportive environment for children and parents in the Bozeman area. As the region’s childcare needs continue to grow, the Salvation Army’s initiative is seen as a step in the right direction toward meeting those demands.
