Billings Police Arrest 19-Year-Old Godfrey Joseph Brokenrope in Connection to 2023 Double Homicide

Billings, MT — The Montana Violent Offender Task Force, in collaboration with the Billings Police Department, arrested 19-year-old Godfrey Joseph Brokenrope on Sunday afternoon following a brief pursuit on the city’s West End. Brokenrope, who was wanted in connection with a double homicide that occurred in Billings in November 2023, was apprehended after a high-speed chase ended with a PIT (Precision Immobilization Technique) maneuver.

Brokenrope was spotted as a passenger in a blue SUV around noon. Officers attempted to pull over the vehicle, but the driver fled north on South Billings Boulevard. After a brief pursuit, law enforcement officers were able to stop the vehicle near King Avenue East, where both Brokenrope and the driver were taken into custody.

The arrest comes after months of investigation into the tragic deaths of 31-year-old Kenneth Morrison and his one-year-old son, Tatee’k, who were killed in a shooting on November 1, 2023. Authorities confirmed in December 2024 that Brokenrope was one of the suspects involved in the fatal shooting, which took place at Morrison’s home in Billings.

According to investigators, Brokenrope was believed to have been in the back seat of a pickup truck that approached Morrison’s residence that night. Two individuals exited the truck and opened fire on the home, killing Morrison, who was shot inside his bedroom. Tatee’k was found unresponsive in his father’s arms. Authorities later confirmed that Tatee’k’s cause of death was compression asphyxia, a tragic detail that deepened the shock surrounding the case.

Two other individuals, Myron Goes Ahead and Jane Nicole Knowshisgun, have already been charged in connection with the double homicide. Goes Ahead, who pleaded guilty to one count of deliberate homicide and one count of negligent homicide, is awaiting sentencing. Knowshisgun, on the other hand, has pleaded not guilty to two counts of deliberate homicide and remains a key figure in the ongoing legal proceedings.

As of now, Brokenrope faces charges related to the homicide, though the investigation continues. Local authorities have expressed their commitment to bringing justice to the victims and their families, as the community grapples with the impact of this tragic crime.
