Billings, Montana – The 55-year-old Billings man who died in a head-on collision east of Laurel on Saturday has been identified.
Yellowstone County Deputy Coroner Rich Hoffman stated Tuesday that Clifton Dale Sullenger died as a result of blunt force injuries.
Around 11 p.m. Saturday, the accident happened on Interstate 90 westbound around mile marker 436, east of Strauch Road.
Sullenger was driving a Hyundai Tucson that “more than likely” entered the highway at the Laurel on-ramp and was driving eastbound in the westbound lanes, according to a Montana Highway Patrol investigation.
According to the highway patrol, the car collided head-on with a GMC Sierra driven by a 31-year-old Roundup woman in the westbound passing lane.
The woman’s injuries required the use of Life Flight. She remained unidentified.
According to the MHP report, alcohol is suspected as a factor.
