Missoula City Council to Vote on Rattlesnake Development Proposal

Missoula, MT – The Missoula City Council is set to vote on a proposed development in the Rattlesnake area that could bring increased housing density to the popular neighborhood. The vote, scheduled for Monday night, will determine whether a multi-dwelling project will proceed with construction in the sought-after location.

The proposed development, located west of Greenough Drive and accessed via Minckler Loop, calls for 45 dwelling units, which include four six-plexes, one nine-plex, and one 12-plex. This plan was initially approved by the City Council in 1994, but the project has experienced two extensions of its deadline for final review.

According to Alex Bramlette, senior planner for the City of Missoula, the development is contingent upon meeting several approval conditions, including the submission of a site plan, landscape design, and a review of the potential impact on Cherry Gulch. The City Council will specifically review the landscape and building design, along with elevations and floor plans, to ensure they align with the previously approved specifications.

“We’re going to be looking at the elevations and the floor plans, making sure it matches what council approved,” Bramlette said.

If the City Council approves the development, it will still need to pass through additional permitting processes before any construction begins. This includes reviews by various government departments, such as the building and fire departments, to determine the safety and feasibility of the project.

The City Council meeting will take place at 6 p.m. on Monday in the Missoula City Council Chambers, located at 140 West Pine Street. Community members are invited to attend the meeting to learn more and share their input on the proposed development.
