Police officials said the 26-year-old mom, later identified as CaroIyn, is now facing 20 years to life in prison for her role in her daughter’s death. Prosecutors said the 3-year-old girl, RiIey reportedly overdosed on fentanyI and meth. The mother had been asleep for about two hours when her brother went into the room to try and wake her inside the home. The 26-year-old mom i snow charged with murder by child abuse and unlawful child neglect.
Per reports, when officers arrived a the mother’s home, they found the girl unconscious. The 3-year-old child was rushed to the hospital, where she was pronounced dead. During an initial interview with investigators, the girl’s mother reportedly said that she was sleeping for two hours when her son tried to wake her up, but was not successful, L&C reported.
When the mother woke up, she went to her daughter’s room and realized that the 3-year-old child had vomited. First responders measured the girl’s temperature and realized that it was just 86 degrees. Per reports, authorities believe that the girl’s mom waited more than an hour before seeking medical help. The responding officers reportedly found iIIegal drugs in the home.
During the investigation, they discovered that other items in the home, including bed sheets, tested positive for rugs. The medical examiner told investigators that the child’s death was drug intoxlcation of fentanyI and meth. But, what’s even more serious, the toxicology tests also revealed that Narcan was in the child’s blood and was administered while she was still alive, police officials said. The mother and the homeowner, Ronald, told authorities they were unsure what the girl could have gotten into.
