Missoula Offers Free Meals for Families During Spring Break

Missoula, MT — As spring break kicks off, the Missoula Food Bank & Community Center is offering a helping hand to families in need by providing free meals throughout the community. The initiative, known as the “Schools Out” program, is designed to support local families with children, ensuring they have access to nutritious meals while schools are out for the break.

Empower Place is one of the primary locations for the program, offering meals through Friday this week. Breakfast will be served daily from 10 a.m. to 10:30 a.m., with lunch available Thursday from 11:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Friday until 1 p.m. However, it’s important to note that all meals must be consumed on-site, as there are no grab-and-go options available.

In addition to Empower Place, a meal bus will be traveling to various locations across Missoula, providing lunch to neighborhoods throughout the area. The meal bus schedule is as follows:

  • Linda Vista Apartments: 10:30 a.m. to 10:50 a.m.
  • 55th St, Chief Charlo Neighborhood: 11 a.m. to 11:20 a.m.
  • University Village: 11:30 a.m. to 11:50 a.m.
  • Creekside Apartments: 12 p.m. to 12:20 p.m.
  • Travois Village: 12:35 p.m. to 12:55 p.m.
  • Futura Park: 1:10 p.m. to 1:30 p.m.

Council Groves Apartments will also be serving breakfast from 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. and lunch from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. on both Thursday and Friday.

This initiative aims to ensure that no child in Missoula goes hungry during the spring break, a time when many children may not have access to school-provided meals. Families are encouraged to visit these locations for a free, nutritious meal as part of the community’s ongoing commitment to support its residents.
